Housekeeping| COVID-19 - An update for our clients

To date, New Zealand has five confirmed cases of COVID-19. While the Ministry of Health (MoH) continues to advise the risk of a widespread outbreak of COVID-19 is expected to remain low, today’s World Health Organisation (WHO) declaration of pandemic status and likely escalation over the next two months may affect MoH’s position.
Ellerslie Event Centre is committed to the health and safety of its staff and you, our valued clients and your delegates, to ensure you can continue to enjoy our facilities safely.
We are taking a precautionary approach and closely following MoH advice and want to share with you the actions we are taking:
Our executive team meets every two days to stay up-to-date with the evolving situation and ensure new information can be sent out to our staff, suppliers, contractors and clients
Staff briefings have been held to remind them of the need to be vigilant in safe hygiene practices and that any staff members who feel unwell or present flu or cold-like symptoms must remain at home and seek medical advice
Posters have been put up throughout the Ellerslie Event Centre to maintain awareness of best practice health and safety procedures for staff and clients
Hand sanitizer stations have been installed throughout our facilities in meeting rooms and foyers where there is high foot traffic
We have increased the level and frequency of cleaning bathrooms and have increased the frequency and disposal procedures for rubbish bins
As a reminder to our clients and their event delegates, we encourage you to follow these basic principles to reduce the risk of spreading viral infections:
Stay at home if you develop a fever and ring your health professional or the MoH Healthline on 0800 358 5453
Avoid close contact with people suffering symptoms of COVID-19 or the flu
Wash hands frequently
Always practice cough etiquette
Maintain a sensible distance
Cover coughs and sneezes with disposable tissues or clothing
We ask you to share the above information with your event attendees and anyone else who you may come into contact with. We will provide you with an update in the event the above information changes in order to ensure you have the most current information from WHO and MoH as the situation evolves and if more stringent measures are recommended.
We also ask you to share your advice and Health and Safety Plan with us ahead of your event.
